Welcome to Wigan u3a
Across the UK, the u3a movement has almost half a million members, and over 1000 local branches. Wigan's branch is relatively new, only in its seventh year and still growing.
The u3a is for people moving on from their working lives and into what will hopefully be a long and active retirement. One description often used is 'a youth club for older people', somewhere for members to keep up their social and creative interests in an informal and friendly way.
Branches are run entirely by volunteers. "By the members and for the members". We work towards finding opportunities to get together with like-minded company, to keep active, and to keep learning. As a non-profit organisation and a registered charity, we aim to offer a varied and affordable calendar of places to go and things to do.

Learn, Laugh, Live!
If you're not familiar with the u3a movement, then "About" gives an overview both of the Wigan branch, and of the broader u3a at regional and national level.
