A friendly pub, located just outside of Wigan's shopping streets - on what once was the main A49 road heading up beyond Iceland store, and in the direction of the Infirmary and Standish. Usually open from 12 noon on weekdays, and from 10 am at weekends.

They to however make special arrangements to let us meet up there on Wednesdays from 11 am on the 'Coffee and Natter' Wednesdays - any Wednesdays when we don't have open meetings at the Cricket Club. It is also our venue for our u3a 'Saturday Club' on 2nd and 4th Saturdays, to drop in for breakfast or just for a coffee and friendly chat, if you prefer a weekend slot to a weekday one. Also for our two bookclubs (two groups, on 1st and 3rd Monday afternoons respectively) and for the Nimble Fingers needlecraft and sewing meetings. (first Monday of the month).

As well as the usual bar service, they offer a choice of teas and coffees, and a food menu. Inside there are 3 separate rooms, so we can generally find somewhere for a u3a group to conveniently slot in. In better weather there is also a large garden to the rear with plenty seating if you fancy some fresh air.

There is street parking to the front, with paid parking meters, (pay by phone or card for 1, 2 or 4 hour duration); or a short alleyway to walk up from the main 'Tesco Extra' car park, which gives some time for free (but do check signage as this is monitored!).
