The first outing for our garden visits group took us to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. Despite a weather forecast that could have been more encouraging, a coach full of our members gathered in optimistic mood at Wigan Youth Zone, and were rewarded with a day out that remained mostly dry and warm. A few hours to explore the compact but varied areas garden, and to visit the big Plant Fair that was being held on that day - the reason for selecting it for the trip!

The colourful gardens were an enjoyable place to relax and stroll, and the popularity of the plant fair was shown by the number of bags being loaded into the coach luggage space for the return trip.
