We have two different ways in which we share information on Facebook - our public community page and a private group for members only.
First we have our Community Page, which is visible to anyone who has a Facebook login and who searches for Wigan u3a. A public face for the Wigan u3a branch, this can be updated only by our FB site administrators.
Perhaps more of interest to our existing members however is our Facebook Forum - which is set up as a private group to allow any paid up members (with Facebook logins) to share information and news stories that they think may interest to fellow members.
Please note that since the members forum is a private group, anyone connecting to it for the first time will NOT see any of the content beyond a single image and group name. However an option to join the group is offered, requiring a few questions to be answered to confirm that you are a current member of Wigan u3a and will follow group guidelines. Your details will then be checked against membership records, and if a genuine request this will be approved by an administrator, and access granted.
Any accepted member is able to make posts into the group, (although do be aware that these will be vetted and removed if inappropriate),
If you first navigate through Facebook to be viewing the full Forum page, you can then post images and stories, which will be seen ONLY by fellow group members, rather than by other friends and family. Perhaps share your best pictures from our trips and social events, or news about anything different happening in groups. However it doesn't have to be only what's u3a related though - perhaps you have events you are involved with besides ours, or that you become aware of run by other local charities and community groups - anything that you feel may be of interest to fellow members.
