This is a group that has previously been available to members at different levels of cycling proficiency. Our group leader, Ron, is not only a keen cyclist himself, but was also a volunteer leader for the services offered in association with Wigan Leisure teams. This allowed him advise and encourage other members of our u3a group on how to find out what's available, whatever the level of cycling ability.

Unfortunately this option of working alongside the Borough Leisure Department is no longer available.

Going forwards, therefore, the cycling group will be accessible only to proficient cyclists, who come along on their own cycles. For members who fall into this category, this could be good news. You will have options to come on more challenging rides, over longer distances, and on more varied terrain.

Our apologies however to those members who may have wanted a more gentle introduction, but this will no longer be available, without having the provision of the equipment hire and the insurance cover that was available with the support of our local council facilities.
