This is one of the various venues operated by the Douglas Valley Partnership, for community access and activities. Housed within the space are a GPs surgery, a nursery school, library facilities, a community café and a choice of meeting rooms for hire. The largest meeting room acts as a gym for local martial arts classes and a meeting/training room for various other local organisations. Tables and chairs are available to set the room out as a classroom, in boardroom table type arrangement or a theatre set up as is required for a particular session, but the room is cleared back to empty after each use. A slide projector and large screen TV are already installed. In summer months when the nursery is closed, the larger room can be made even bigger - taking back the sliding dividers to give space for even larger meetings and events.

The premises are about 5 minutes away from the town centre, heading out along the 'Higher Ince' road, past the old Bulldog Tools factory and out through Hindley and Hindley Green, towards Bolton. Just past the traffic lights at Smithy Green shopping area / Kentucky Fried Chicken shop; turn left before the building to reach the enclosed rear car park or alternately find parking on surrounding streets.

The café is part of the community services provision, and offers hot and cold drinks, snacks and a good range of basic breakfast and lunchtime meals at reasonable price.
