A supermarket might not be the first place you think of for a meeting venue! However Tesco are active in providing space for community groups, and for helping with various fundraising programs and charitable events. And have offered us use of a community meeting room at the main Tesco Extra store on Central Park Way, just outside the town centre.,

The community room is accessed from the back of the store, away from where customers would usually be. Groups need to get together near the store entrance, to sign in to the closed area. And return there to sign out again as they leave. Car registration numbers will also be collected, so that if longer meetings overrun the permitted free parking time, their parking wardens know not to ticket you.

The room gets used for all kinds of promotions, campaigns, collections and craft activities, so lots of evidence of all this in progress in the room. However there's plenty tables and chairs, to pull into the clear space in the centre of the room, to have our meetings. Also available is a kitchen area, to brew up a tea or coffee. And nice smells from the bakery to tempt you to have biscuits to go with this.
